Welcome to Sandstorm Spring Hockey - 2009

Last year, for the first time, the Sandstorm’s offered a “Spring League” for minor hockey. The idea was to have a more relaxed hockey experience at a time of year in Dubai when other sports have come to an end.

This year, due to popular demand, there will be a greatly expanded Spring League.  We will have a U9 and a separate U12 session at the Dubai Mall Ice Rink this starting Friday April 24th and running for 8 weeks, ending June 12th.  The times will be at the Dubai Mall 0800-0900 and 0900-1000 alternating every week.    Additionally, Stephan Palubiski  (spalubiski@hotmail.com) and Francois Roy (francoisroy95@hotmail.com) are hosting an additional U12 session at Al Nasr starting April 29th at 1800.  Based on 20 skaters and 2 goalies per session, the cost is 400 dhs per player.  You can pay prior at the first session.

I would like to emphasize that this is an entirely separate league to the regular season.  We want a fun atmosphere and that means for the coaches as well; All the Head Coaches are a little burnt-out after a long season we would really appreciate if your player can commit to the sessions as described without making things any more complicated.  Please also understand that this is not a developmental league and we will not be teaching basic skills; the sessions will be, for the most part, scrimmages with new teams created every week.

We will need goaltenders for each session so let your coach know if your player is interested in trying a turn at net.
