The goal of the Camp was to give young hockey players the
best Camp possible given our resources so that they can improve their
hockey skills and ultimately enjoy the game more. Based on the
improvement we saw on the last day, I'd say it was a success!
On behalf of Nick Cobbett, the Hockey Camp Coordinator, I
would like to especially thank the following:
-
Mike Merriman,
who was on the ice for all 22 hours. On top of that, he kept
up his energy level and endless enthusiasm throughout the 4 days.
Without a doubt Mike is a world class Coach and the pre-eminent
Hockey Instructor in this region. All of us were very lucky to
have him for this Camp. Thanks again Mike!
-
Sharon Nikolai
who donated 3 days worth of exercises and hockey specific
stretching routines. Hopefully the players will take what they
learned and use it to continue off-ice training
-
Steve Forsythe
who completed 80% of the registration. You'd have thought us
organisers would have planned to have someone do registration?!
Steve stepped in and saved the day.
-
All the
Assistant Coaches. We never lacked help for the on-ice
sessions which is a testament to the enthusiastic parents we have.
Special mention to Chris Parker who helped with Group 3 and
was the only non-parent to help out.
-
Finally, a big
thanks to Nick who conceived the clinic and enthusiastically pushed
it along. Nick was working on the Camp virtually full time for
the past 3 weeks. Even trips to Brazil didn't stop him from
answering the phone and replying to emails.
In the next few days we
will be sending out Camp critiques so that future Camps can benefit from
our experience. We also hope to post some pictures which will be
available for downloading. In the meantime, please accept my
sincere appreciation for all your support.
